Richmond Galleries - History
Four Generations of Auctioneers and Appraisers Founded in 1888, the Brown's have been running this business since it's start. Starting as a carriage manufacturer, the company shifted to the moving business which was known as Richmond Storage and Van Company the predecessor to the former Allied Van Lines. In 1920, the auctions began. Richmond Galleries, was started by Clare H. Brown, David Brown's grandfather, and continues to this day. David's father, Bentley, has close to forty years of experience in auctioneering and with that, understands the needs of his customers. With beautiful antiques being auctioned, one can understand why dealers come from all over the North East to bid. Continuing into the 21st century, Richmond Galleries has also taken part in the information revolution with www.richmondgalleries.com.
